My name is Karolien. I am a Belgian (living in France) jewelry designer and the founder of Bijoux de La Lande. Let me tell you a little bit about myself and the brand:
Inspired by Nature
I can’t go outside without feeling inspired by nature! - Ask my husband or anyone who ever went hiking or spent some time in the garden with me, I am constantly making pictures, picking up small things here and there, and probably talking about what I could make with them, too. - So you can imagine that I often feel a strong urge to translate the beauty I find in nature into jewelry and that I always have a growing amount of nature-inspired jewelry. With every piece I create, I want you to be reminded of the joy and wonder of Nature.
I’ve been a full-time jeweler for over ten years and still love this job! In 2012, right after graduating as a Jewelry Designer, I started my first handmade jewelry business. Over the years, this brand became known mostly for its sculptural, playful style, and the natural jewelry didn’t fit into that brand anymore. So that’s why I decided to start Bijoux de La Lande, a jewelry brand dedicated to the growing amount of natural jewelry I also love to create. I believe those designs deserve their own brand, they are made with so much love, from small parts I collect in nature and composed into timeless jewelry.
Sustainable work
Because nature is so important, I try to take better care of our planet.
Jewelry making can be a very polluting industry. At Bijoux de La Lande, we’re always improving our studio setup and the process of creating our jewelry to lower the impact of our jewelry-making process on the earth. So, all silver and gold we use is recycled, and we carefully make every piece by hand. We are committed to creating heirloom-quality jewelry so they can stand up against the test of time and be cherished for generations to come.

As we moved from busy Belgium to rural France and are renovating an old stone house we bought here, the name Bijoux de La Lande came naturally. The area where our property is is called La Lande, and this fits my style.
Since moving here, I’m no longer working alone, because my husband joined the business.
